Pasarbella – Singapore’s only indoor farmer’s market – recently marked its first year at The Grandstand and what better way to celebrate this urban shopping spot than by sharing some of our faves with you! Stuffed with foodie delights, fresh produce, gourmet groceries, plus a selection of children’s stores, here’s our very own Sassy Mama guide to the unmissable spots to hit up whilst you are there!

Shopping

lemon zest

When you first walk into Pasarbella (from the entrance nearest to Giant Hypermarket) you’ll want to hook around to your right and head up the stairs. For at the top you’ll be rewarded with culinary lifestyle store, Lemon Zest! Their second outlet in Singers, it’s brimming with gorgeous kitchenware items that’ll help you look like a pro in the kitchen.

Looking for a bit o’ fragrance in the home but not keen to fill the air with artificial sprays? Then stop by To be Calm to pick up beautifully scented candles that also inspire as each product comes with its very own life affirming quote.

With Happy Products for Happy People Shabby Chic is your go-to spot for adorable floral crockery and plates that’ll make any afternoon tea a decadent affair. Bookmark this one as a must-visit next time you’re looking to add to your dinnerware collection mama – they even have a small range of bath, linen and paper goods too!

Need flowers? Then head towards Poppy Flora Studio to pick up beautifully designed bouquets or sign yourself up for one of their flower arranging classes and learn how to make stunning arrangements at home.

Eating

bonheur patisserie

If you fancy a bit of a sweet treat to kick start your shopping, swing past Bonheur Patisserie for lip licking good macarons or Seventh Heaven for a scoop of artisinal ice cream (also doubles as a good bribing tool if you’ve dragged the kids along and you want to “encourage” good behaviour).

For comfort food stop at Rabbit Carrot Gun’s outlet, Nibbles and chow down on homemade pies, Scotch eggs, and other British classics, or head to Charly T’s if you’d prefer a bit o’ rotisserie chicken instead.

Da Paolo Gastronomia also has a take away outlet at Pasarbella that is stuffed with their normal classics, including sandwiches, pastas, salads, and pastries, and is great to zip past if you’re craving a quick bite.

Of course, there’s plenty of other foodie outlets to visit when the munchies hit, including Nana’s Kitchen for Swedish inspired cuisine, Shiraz Mezzah for yummy Persian food, Le Patio for crepes and paellas, Sea Salt Caribbean Deli for Limón-style dishes, Mara Shabu for a sharing hotpot, CICELY Kitchen for meals with homemade goodness, and Keith Crackling Roast for….errr… roast pork!

Lastly, don’t forget to pop into The Cheese Ark either – their range of raw milk cheeses are super delish and will have you coming back for more!

Drinking

dutch colony co

Hands down our favourite spot in the whole of Pasarbella has to be Dutch Colony Co for that essential coffee stop. We’d definitely recommend starting your foodie journey here – it’s handy that it’s one of the first places you see when you walk in the Southern entrance — as they make one of the best flat whites we’ve ever had in Singapore.

If tea is more to your tasting, then skip over the coffee and make a beeline for 1872 Clipper Tea Co. instead. Their best-selling teas are brewed and prepared with an adventurous twist for you to enjoy at their mini “Tea Bar” – you can even buy a few boxes to take home too!

If mama needs something a little stronger you’ll be happy to know there’s also a number of drinking spots lovingly hidden away inside this foodie market, namely The Great Beer Experiment for a wide selection of craft beers, Merchants for award winning wines hailing from boutique winemakers abroad, and Straits Wine Organic for biodynamic wine, juice and artisanal spirits (just in case you’re looking for “healthy” wine that is mama!).

Groceries

tangy tangerines

All good markets must contain some sort of fresh produce offerings for home gourmands and at Pasarbella, The Organic Grocer, SG Organic, and Tangy Tangerines all fit the bill. Stock up on pesticide free fruits and vegetables, and other organic groceries with these three gems all literally located side by side. Psst… The Organic Grocer even has a little kiddie play area at the front of their store so you can leave the tinies to watch a movie while you do your browsing.

Want to get your hands on some super yummy gourmet food products? Then keep Little Provence and Mekhala firmly on your radar mama – these stalls are brimming with organic, gourmet, natural food products (think top end olive oils and artisanal jams) that’ll bring a little bit of fanciness to your pantry.

Kids

balloons

For every type of helium balloon you could ever need – including cartoon characters and big fat number balloons – head to Balloon Blasters (the name says it all really).

Kiddie Playhouse is our new go-to for cool kids products – last time we were in there we couldn’t stop gushing over their selection of educational toys. Definitely one to keep in mind next time you’re on present patrol mama, we think the kinetic sand and “moh doh” they had would make the perfect gift for little friends.

Make your kiddos next hair cut a fun experience but stopping past Poika & Tyter (it’s tucked away up the stairs near Lemon Zest). Junior will get to sit in an airplane or a racecar while their resident stylists give their locks a quick trim.

Popping up all over the island, The Children’s Showcase is also tucked away in Pasarbella and is one of our faves when we’re looking for luxe kids products. Park the kiddos at the front entrance to play with their tub of plus plus puzzles while you sneak inside for a shop.

That’s it mamas! Once you make it through the depths of Pasarbella (assuming you come in via the southern entrance) you’ll also find a fresh seafood market, a butchery, and a food court if you feel like sitting down for a bit after a morning of shopping — we always do!
