Best hair colour in Singapore: Where to get the perfect colour and highlights!

Finding the perfect hairstylist, one that can manage your precious locks and give you the highlights you so desperately desire, can be as difficult as finding a gold nugget. Luckily we’ve done the rounds of hair salons in Singapore mama and have a handy little list of the places we trust explicitly with our highlights. No matter what type of hair you’ve got (long, short, curly, wavy, blonde or brunette!), all the salons and stylists listed here are super talented and ready to give you the look you want!

Next Salon

Delos Oh, former Technical Director (and colourist extraordinaire) at Sabune Cabane has moved to Next Salon in ION Orchard. She has the best highlight technique we’ve ever come across (and we’ve had highlights at Bumble and Bumble in New York, as well as a number of top salons in London…you name it mama, we’ve probably tried it!). No one gets as close to the roots as she does! Delos is also super lovely; chatty when you instigate conversation, and quiet when you don’t. A gold dust colourist – she’s a keeper!

Koinonia Salon

Amy Chee has just moved from Casey’s in Palais Renaissance, where she was a top colourist for 24 years, to (the rather unpronounceable) Koinonia Salon at Pacific Plaza. Don’t be put off though, Amy is an artist with colour and really breathes life into the bottle blonde look that she’s hugely adverse to! She’s very clever in her application of colour so that highlights look natural yet quite edgy too and regardless of whether it’s your third or thirtieth appointment, Amy manages to see your hair as if for the first time (no same same stripey look here mama!).

We love that her new salon is only two floors above the delish burger joint & Made where you can order some lunch and they’ll bring it up to you at your station – love it! Amy is currently offering 20% off all colour and technical treatments from now until the end of September 2013, so get in quick!

Jeric Salon

Whinnie Goh from Jeric salon (she’s actually married to the man who started the Jeric chain!) is the hairdressing whizz at their Plaza Singapura branch. We love her so much in fact that she’s our go-to hairstylist when we’re after a very good, sharp haircut. She’s meticulous, very precise and has good judgement on whether or not a cut will work with your particular hair type and face shape.

Casey Inc.

The other place we love for highlights is Casey Inc. in the quiet confines of Palais Renaissance (it’s no coincidence that Amy Chee used to work here!). Casey Chua is the go-to guy for blondes here and even offers a great deal on hair treatments. Provided you return within ten days from your latest dye job, you can pop back for a lustre-boosting potion all for the same price as a regular blow dry (from $42.80 depending on hair length). We all know how much bleaching can dry out your tresses so this is always worth doing!

Visage The Salon

We couldn’t neglect to mention Dominic Seow from Visage either, who made a name for himself in Singapore by cutting and dying Caucasian hair at a time when not many people professed to be experts! He’s also very good with hair that is particularly curly and difficult to manage.

Toni & Guy

Toni & Guy are always a safe bet, with their salon on the East Coast remaining one of their busiest branches (it was one of the first salons that they opened here in Singapore). Their numerous outlets around the island will have you cut, coloured and blow-dried in no time at all!
