Sometimes on a really clear evening, I like to take my iPad outside and sit in the garden and watch a movie. Admittedly it’s not the easiest way to watch a film but there’s something really magical about watching the magic of the big screen come alive in the outdoors. So, imagine my utter glee when I heard Films at the Fort was returning this year.
If you haven’t already heard of Films in the Fort mama, then you need to get in the know, and quickly, as tickets sell like hotcakes. Put quite simply, it combines the very best in cult, award-winning cinema, gourmet food and sensational wines, all in the stunning outdoor location of Fort Canning Park… and I couldn’t think of a better way to spend some alone-time with your other half than this.
Lasting this year for ten whole days, from 1st August to 10th August, you can expect films ranging from Hollywood classics like Pretty Woman to the more hard-hitting A Touch of Sin – winner of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival and a film so controversial it was banned in China.
But that’s not it. This year Films at the Fort have teamed up with My Private Chef and Jones the Grocer to offer film-goers the very best in gourmet treats — expect feasts ranging from three course vegetarian platters to simple picnic selections. With the ability to pull up a picnic blanket, pour a glass of wine and chow down on a tasty something, Films at the Fort is your next date night sorted mama. Too easy.
