Life Sized Sand Sculptures for Free at Sentosa: Sentosa Sandstation 2017

…So how’s about FREE entry to Sentosa this weekend and this FREE sand sculpture exhibition happening in Sentosa until 17 September 2017?

The amazing larger-than-life sand sculptures on display are the entries for the Sentosa International Sand Sculpting Championship won by Pedro Mira from Portugal with his piece “Broken Heart”

Pedro says of his sculpture, “When I was given the theme of imagination, I thought about something that was important to me. In my life, one of the biggest emotions I have had is a broken heart. I imagine everyone has, at a certain point in their lives, a broken heart. So I wanted to represent that through my sand creation.”

Seeing these works of art made out of sand is a great one for kids. Apart from being visually stunning, the themes of many of the imaginative sculptures are deep and philosophical – making them a great conversation starter for older kids too.

Parents, you’ll also enjoy the local sculptures which showcase Singapore’s unique blend of culture, humour, quirks and colloquialism, as well as one-of-a-kind art pieces by JOOheng Tan. We love the tongue in cheek names to the displays like “Blur like Sotong, Gabra like Zebra” and “So Kiasu”.

Plus: From until this weekend Singapore residents get free entry to Sentosa with a waiver of charges for the Sentosa Express monorail and gantry fees for cars, as well as free rides on Sentosa’s on-island cable car line which brings guests directly to the Siloso Point Station where the sandcastle are on display!

The free cable car ride starts from the Merlion Station at Imbiah (opposite the Sentosa Express Imbiah Station).
