You can’t beat the simple pleasure of taking the kids out for an ice cream treat.

We do scream for ice cream a lot in our house. Our favourite neighbourhood ice cream shop The Daily Scoop just turned 13 – and to celebrate their anniversary they are rolling out 13 new flavours! Get excited!

Now the good news is, if you’ve licked your way around most of the old favourites, (predictable Chocolate for junior and Lychee Martini for us mama!) then these new combos are gonna blow your mind. Some of them we totally fell in yum with…others were a little on the acquired taste side. The bad news, is you may have to hold tight and wait for the flavour you have your eye on to surface they are staggering the release… So here we tell you which flavours are worth marking down in your diary.

Out Now

Miso Sesame Brittle – a mild umami miso ice cream specked with crushed sesame brittle – so good!
Orange MacCrumble – a lightly citrussy number of macadamia and orange ice cream with a chocolate oat crumble.

Worth Waiting For

 – Pear & Walnut Crumble – caramelised pear chunks in vanilla ice cream, sprinkled with a sweet salty walnut crumble – just the right balance of creamy ice cream, crunchy crumble and sweet bursts of real pear – probably our fave! (Out from 18 December)
Yuzu Sapporo – an interesting combo of yuzu and Sapporo beer – dairy free sorbet (out 6 November)
Midnight Sorbet – a dangerously dark sorbet made with dairy-free dark chocolate of 65% single origin Malagos chocolate from Trinitario cocoa beans, with a shot of Liberty coffee espresso – naughty but nice. (Out from 23 October)
Mulled Wine & Berries – a fruity coloured mulled wine ice cream with mixed berries for the festive season – refreshing yet fun and festive (Standby for 22 December).

The jury is still out on a couple of flavours – Hojicha & Chestnut and the very pink La Vie En Rose of Bandung ice cream with marshmallows – guess we will have to go back and try ’em again!
