Heard about barre class but not sure if it’s for you? With six different workouts (including specialised prenatal and mums & bubs classes), plus a convenient new location on Orchard, look no further than WeBarre!

We’ve long been fans of WeBarre, Asia’s leading barre studio. It all started with their cosy, light-filled studio on Tanjong Pagar (still going strong!), and has since expanded to other CBD locations on Telok Ayer and Clarke Quay and a super popular studio in Hong Kong.

This June, WeBarre has just opened a fourth Singapore location, on Orchard Road at the beautiful School of the Arts (SOTA) near Dhoby Ghaut. The beautiful, convenient new space houses three workout rooms, WeBarre’s head office, and spacious changing rooms and showers for clients to freshen up afterwards!

Even as it’s grown to four studios across Singapore and Hong Kong, WeBarre has always been about its supportive, close-knit community, where clients are like friends and team members are like family. Much of this is down to WeBarre’s two co-founders, Anabel and Linda, who are all about creating a warm and friendly environment for anyone keen on a fun and effective workout.

In fact, WeBarre offers six different class types, including its Signature Multi-Level class, Fundamentals, and the intensive HIIT. It’s no surprise that at Sassy Mama we are particularly partial to their Pre- and Postnatal classes; the former feature a smaller class size for extra personal attention, which is so key when helping to educate pregnant mamas on how to best support the demands on their body and prepare for birth.

“With this pregnancy, I have not been exercising much and my body gets stiff”, pregnant mama-to-be Jan Lee tells us.

“But after barre classes, I feel energised and tension in a lot of areas in my body is released”.

Meanwhile, the Postnatal Mums & Bubs class is sooooo much fun, and an amazing way for time-strapped new mamas to fit in a workout without sacrificing quality times with their new bubs. Classes focus on strengthening the pelvic floor and core, and provide for lots of fun bonding time with babies aged 3 months (or strong enough to hold their heads up) up to 10 months, although our mobile crawler was a bit of a handful at the session we attended!

Both classes are also a fab way to meet other mamas and babies.

“Around 3 or 4 months post-partum is when you may realise you still have baby weight to lose and don’t feel particularly great about the way you look”, says mama Rachel Toyomura. “WeBarre really allowed me to gain confidence without feeling guilty about leaving my baby at home.

“I was a bit nervous before my first class as I thought my baby would be crying the whole time, but I was surprised to see that my baby loved all of the motions and even fell asleep toward the end of class. We even incorporate some of the exercises, such as the ‘Superman pose’, into our daily routine”.

“I don’t have a helper and Baby goes wherever I go”, says new mama Wee Naa. “It definitely helped that I could bring her to class; working out together, with other new mums, also serves as motivation to get back on track with my fitness”.

Adds Wee Naa:

“In Mums & Bubs I reconnected with some mamas who were in other Prenatal classes previously. It was great seeing them after their pregnancies and with their new babies. In a way, being a new mum makes it easy to bond with other new mums, because we face so many common challenges – including making time for ourselves to stay fit”.

There you have it, mamas: whether you’re looking to be as fit as possible in your pregnancy (since that should help with labour!), get in postnatal shape, or simply meet other mamas or barre-lovers, WeBarre will have a class for you. And with its four convenient locations across the city, it’ll now be easier than ever!
