When was the last time you caught a live play? SIFA 2021 presents Closer Apart, a non-verbal theatre show for parents and kids at The Artground (plus get 1hr free playtime at their indoor Arts Space!)
Have you ever wondered what life would be like after an apocalypse? Closer Apart by MySuperFuture Theatre Productions is a non-verbal play for adults and kids 5 years old+, that tells the story of a father raising his daughter in a post-apocalyptic time where clean air is scarce and real food is hard to come by. Imagine that!
The play is part of the Singapore International Festival of Arts, which brings three programmes for the public to enjoy safely from 6 -8 August. Besides Closer Apart, other exciting SIFA 2021 shows include The Rhythm of Us by Singapore Dance Theatre and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, A Thousand Ways Part III: An Assembly by American theatre group 600 HIGHWAYMEN.
Closer Apart is presented by Ian Loy of MySuperFuture Theatrical Productions who regularly involves himself with many community outreach and theatre projects with people of all ages and abilities, coaching or creating theatre art for them, especially for young audiences.
Ian has been creating theatre for young audiences since 2009, and has brought about projects such as Arts in Your Neighbourhood and several immersive programmes at The Artground! His latest production Closer Apart is a heart-warming tale of how little everyday acts make the memories we have tomorrow as a father-and-daughter duo navigate harsh conditions in their version of a ‘new normal’!
Did we mention audience members will be given exclusive use of The Artground Arts Space before the show starts? You’ll get an hour to explore the indoor playground before catching the play – so make sure to turn up an hour earlier than your show start time and let the kiddos explore!
