This year, they welcome their new Head of School, Mr. James Morris, who comes with 30 years of global experience in the UK and China in teaching and leadership roles.

Mr. Morris is known for his student-centred approach, prioritising their well-being and education above all else. With the desire to help every student become compassionate, global citizens of the future, Mr. Morris is dedicated to creating a positive learning environment and making an impact on the students’ learning, empowering them to be resilient, confident learners.

1. What inspired you to pursue a career in education? 

Like all teachers, I had a real passion for making a positive difference to young people’s lives. I have never seen teaching as a job or career but a passion and a privilege. I realised that by becoming a Head, I could have a greater impact on a larger number of students. Hence, when I felt it was the right time for me to take on this role 17 years ago, I seized the opportunity with both hands. I have never looked back since.

2. What do you enjoy most about being a school leader?

Making a significant positive impact on student’s learning and having the flexibility and resilience to lead a fulfilling life happily but with the mindset to solve problems and overcome challenges.

3. How do you like to spend your free time outside of work? 

I love to spend time with my family, going out to parks and activity areas. My son especially loves swimming, so Singapore is a great place to be for that. I love reading–I am currently reading Lee Kuan Yew’s From Third World to First. I also enjoy writing, hiking, visiting places of cultural and historical interest, running and travelling.

4. What drew you to OWIS Digital Campus specifically? 

I was struck by how diverse the school community is. I come from London, a city with so many different parts of the world represented by its many different and fascinating communities. OWIS Digital Campus very much reflects that. Moreover, everybody here is harmonious and happy. This makes for a very positive working and learning environment.

5. What do you think sets OWIS Digital Campus apart from other schools? 

OWIS Digital Campus is a truly cutting-edge state-of-the-art campus fit for the 21st century and the age of technology. It equips students to be prepared to work in a world of innovation and sustainability.

6. What do you find most rewarding about working with students? 

Watching every student develop rapidly in their self-confidence, knowledge and skill-set in this caring environment is what I find the most satisfying and rewarding.

7. What is one thing you hope every student at OWIS Digital Campus will remember about their time at the school? 

I hope they will remember the nurturing environment in which they grew and did so with a smile on their faces. I hope they remember that they were supported by their teachers, every step of their learning journey.
