CB2 Opens in Peranakan Place, Singapore

Homewares shopping in Singapore just got quite a bit more interesting with the recent arrival of Crate & Barrel in Ion, and also with the furniture behemoth’s sister brand, CB2 (which is super-modern and fun!) popping up in Peranakan Place. As this is CB2’s first store outside the US (hurrah!) we couldn’t resist heading over there bright and early one morning to check out what’s in store…

Firstly, how had we not noticed Peranakan Place before? This gorgeous historical building is nestled next to Centrepoint on Orchard (that’s where to get the taxi to drop you off/where to park) and the entrance to CB2 is just past TCC. You go in on the street level and take the elevator up to the shop on the 2nd Floor… So far, so stroller friendly and kids will love riding in the glass lift!

Secondly, the store space is done absolutely beautifully, with sensitivity to the heritage setting, and more than a nod to our Asian location with local artworks and old shop signs integrated with their display setups. And the shop is far bigger than you might imagine from street level, sprawling over 6,000 square feet. There are fabulously sleek white and bright pieces of furny, colourful rugs, mirrors and lamps and covetable kitchenwares, including particularly fun plates and accessories. The look is super-cool and will inspire you to want to chuck out the old and bring in the new! If you’re already all kitted out, there’s a great selection of little gift bits which would make lovely little pressies for friends.

There’s nothing very “kid” in the store (other than a Panda artwork which would make a fun statement piece in a nursery), but we’re channeling our pre-mama selves and loving what CB2 has to offer.
