Spring break is nearly here, which is great for the kiddos, but leaves parents everywhere wondering, “Now what?!” That’s where the The Keys Academy comes in to give mamas some peace of mind! The Keys is an innovation and skills centre which knows exactly how to keep young learners happy, engaged and active during the school hiatus.
The Keys Academy is passionate about out-of-the-box learning. Their holiday camps have an interdisciplinary vibe that offers a learning pathway combining business, leadership and communications for kids as young as 6 years old. Young minds will be challenged in these interactive 5-day long camps running along different themes – one week they might solve a murder mystery, the next they’ll use algorithms to build a robot!
Keys instructors are amazingly adept at blending hard skills, like science and maths, with valuable life skills by nurturing and developing young minds in their playful interest-based camps. They make learning fun, and their enthusiasm is contagious!
At The Keys, kids are encouraged to distinguish themselves as leaders in their communities with a global perspective. They learn how to be great leaders, effective communicators, and savvy savers. What’s more, their very hands-on holiday camps have been designed by renowned experts in the fields of leadership, entrepreneurship, communication and technology. The CEOs themselves are globally recognised as leaders in education reform and applied learning! Just check out the six programmes on offer this March and April:
6-8 years – Design Innovation
Understand problems from the inside out by prototyping solutions in building and programming robots, microcontrollers and smart phones.
7-8 years – Tech Star Jr
Learn programming basics with MIT Media Lab’s software Scratch and creative writing skills to create your own animated stories.
8-10 years – Silicon Valley 101
Budding entrepreneurs will design and market a consumer product for millennials using 3D printing technology.
10-12 years – CSI: Murder Mystery
Solve a murder mystery using math and science, and practice communication skills to present a case to the “grand jury.”
9-12 years – Mars Robot Challenge
Use basic block programming, logic gates, truth tables and flowcharts to build a robot to withstand a Martian storm!
12-15 years – Problem Solving
Apply the necessary critical thinking skills to create a board game that challenges players to problem solve as a true 21st century learner.
Priced at $595 with lunch provided, all six camps will run over four weeks for each age group, so simply choose which week works best! Camps will run from 9am-2pm daily, except for the week of 21 March where it will run from Monday to Thursday from 9am-3:30pm to make up for the Good Friday public holiday. Be sure to register early as these popular camps have limited spaces available; you can actually take an additional 10% off with the earlybird special if you register by 15 February!
