KTV versus karaoke
In case you didn’t know, there are two different types of places to go for karaoke. KTV bars and karaoke rooms.
KTV: stands for karaoke television and these are karaoke bars with karaoke sound systems and private rooms but there’s often lots of drinking and a certain type of rendezvous—let’s just say that they have a reputation for attracting ‘adult fun’ (if you know what we mean), and thus would not be suitable for a fun family karaoke night.
Karaoke: these karaoke offerings are more suitable for family karaoke depending on the location. There will usually be a private karaoke room to hire per hour or two hour slot. (Do note that off peak karaoke times are usually Monday to Thursday before 6pm while peak times are usually Thursday to Sunday, and into the early hours). You can choose your karaoke song selection, order drinks and snacks. If you’re planning a fun activity with kids, then check out karaoke places without alcohol to be safe.
