Uber’s on-demand car seat ride service is finally here, mamas!
Get psyched to finally stop schlepping the car seat in and out of taxis, mama: Uber has just announced the official launch of Uber Car Seat! Perfect for babies as young as 1 year old, Uber Car Seat vehicles will be installed with the IMMI Go Car Seat from 15 June 2017! This comes after a close partnership between the private car hire service with premiere travel car harness company IMMI Go and car safety expert Elise Mawson of Taxi Baby Singapore.
If you didn’t already know, mama, Singapore law requires children below 1.35m to ride in a car seat for safety measures. The IMMI Go Car Seat caters to kids 1.45m and below; minimum requirements are that a child be at least 12 months old AND weigh 10-25kg. Uber has ensured that their highest-rated uberX driver-partners are trained and certified on how to safely secure the IMMI Go Car Seats by a qualified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST).
How to book an Uber Car Seat vehicle
1. Enter your destination in the ‘Where to’ section in the Uber app
2. Scroll to ‘Extra Seats’ and tap ‘Car Seat’ — note that there will be an extra $5 booking fee
The incredible new service is the perfect transportation option for us mamas and dads on the go. You can now get around worry-free at the touch of a button with your little one safely and reliably buckled up!
Pricing
Rejoice! Riding safe doesn’t have to cost much. You’ll be happy to know that the rates for Uber Car Seat will be the same as uberX, plus a $5 booking fee.
Car seat safety isn’t always easy or convenient, but it is literally vital, mamas! We are thrilled to see this option available to families in Singapore. Well done, Uber, Elise and IMMI!
